Viscaal heads to Italian Temple of Speed

This weekend Dutch racing driver Bent Viscaal will race at Monza, Italy in the penultimate round of the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship.

In the second consecutive weekend of F3 competition, 19-year-old Viscaal will take on the iconic Autodromo Nazionale di Monza just north of the Italian city of Milan.

The previous round of competition at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps proved to be a weekend of mixed fortunes for Bent.

After a positive practice and qualifying session, Bent was struck with illness on the Friday night which made for a challenging race weekend. Despite still being unwell, Bent went from 25th on the first lap of Sunday’s race, to crossing the line in 14th position - making up a fantastic 11 places.

Moving onto Monza, Bent has only raced there once previously, when he competed in the EuroFormula Open Series last year. Despite not finishing the first race, Bent recorded a second place finish in the second race of the weekend to claim his eighth podium of the season.

This weekend will present a new challenge to Bent, as he tackles the fast and ferocious Monza track in his new international F3 machinery.

“Racing at Monza this weekend is going to be an interesting challenge, the track is challenging and obviously very quick too. However, because I have raced here before that should help me a little bit. With only four races left this season, I really want to be in contention for points this weekend. The team and I have been working really hard, so I am hoping that all of the efforts will pay off.”

Bent’s weekend will get underway with a practice session on Friday 6th September at 09:35 (CEST). Qualifying will take place on the same day at 17:50. Race one on Saturday will be held at 10:30, before Sunday’s race at 09:30.
