Bent Viscaal has taken his first-ever Formula 3 victory at the British Silverstone in a spectacular way. The 20-year-old Dutchman was not given the victory and drove side-by-side with Lirim Zendeli until the last corner.

Ben Barnicoat starts the sprint race on Sunday from pole but loses his lead to Zendeli due to a bad start. The German is in the lead almost all the time with MP Motorsport driver Viscaal behind him. Especially in the final phase, Viscaal starts to push and sets the fastest lap time lap after lap.

Only in the very last lap, however, it comes to an overtaking action by the Dutchman, who dives on the inside of Zendeli in Copse. He then tries to pull away, but that doesn’t work because Zendeli tries in the slipstream on the outside of Viscaal in Stowe, after which the two drive side-by-side until the very last corner. In the end, Viscaal takes the better exit in the penultimate corner and goes to victory from the outside, his very first victory in Formula 3. Teammate Richard Verschoor finishes in eighteenth place outside the points.
